QVC sales channels for startups

Startups and QVC – how does that work? Extremely well, if you look at the on-air success stories, online and app sales of products by entrepreneurs who took part in the German version of “Shark Tank”. That’s why we’re so pleased that the successful retailer is launching its new QVC NEXT startup initiative at the Startups@Reeperbahn Pitch event on September 20, where a QVC NEXT Mobile has been added to the Blind Date Love Mobile. Decision-makers from QVC’s purchasing department will be inside the QVC NEXT Mobile having inspiring conversations with entrepreneurs about their innovative products and explaining the QVC NEXT program to startups. This isn’t a “blind date” with a surprise mentor because you already know who you’ll be meeting in the QVC NEXT Mobile: the Love Mobile team, with decision-makers from the QVC purchasing department, is looking forward to discovering exciting products that could potentially be presented to a wide audience via the many QVC sales channels. Food startups are very welcome to come along, as are innovative manufacturers of clothing (functional and fashion), beauty products, jewelry, accessories, electronics and anything else that makes life better and easier.

Teleshopping –a billion-euro market

Teleshopping sales in Germany totaled EUR 1.9 billion in 2016 – a clear indicator of its potential. In fact, Germany is the market leader in Europe. Founded in 1986 in the USA, QVC is a teleshopping pioneer that first went on air on German television in 1996. The online shop was launched in 2002, successively followed by all of the relevant apps from 2014 onwards.

In other words, QVC has a wealth of experience that several startups from the entrepreneurial reality show have been able to benefit from recently. They got extended airtime on the QVC live shows to introduce themselves and explain their inventions. The success stories include the stockings from Bataillon Belette – with 23,000 pairs sold within a few days in the TV shows, webshop and via the QVC app. Blufixx’s all-purpose adhesive and the “Abfluss Fee” sink plug were both sold out within just a few minutes of their first appearance on QVC TV. And 600 orders were received for the Malzit sandwich spread in seven minutes.

QVC NEXT is looking for innovative startups

Other startups are also being given the chance to achieve these impressive sales because digital retailer QVC is launching the next flight by sending out the QVC NEXT scouts to source new partnerships with startups. The initiative officially kicks off on September 20, 2017 at the Startups@Reeperbahn Pitch event.

QVC NEXT’s Love Mobile will also be stopping in front of the Gruenspan Club on the same day. Another highlight of the Startups@Reeperbahn program, which is part of the Reeperbahn Festival, will be the unique opportunity for startups to present themselves and their products to the QVC NEXT scouts.
